Calvary, Lake Havasu, to host Getaway Day before AZSBC annual meeting
Oct 27, 2021
The day before the annual meeting of the Arizona Southern Baptist Convention in Lake Havasu City on Friday, November 12, host church Calvary Baptist Church is offering a day of activities for messengers and guests designed to “Restore Your Soul.”
“We’re doing this because pastors are tired and we want to encourage them,” Chad Garrison, lead pastor at Calvary, said. “Restoration happens when we pause, play (recreate), and worship, so that is what we’re offering.”
Daytime activities on Thursday will include boating, hiking, golf, desert off-roading, shooting, and a spa day for women. That evening, Calvary will provide dinner at the church’s Sweetwater campus, followed by featured speaker Chris Brown, lead pastor of North Coast Church in Vista, California, and a concert of worship.
Space is still available for boating and hiking. Golf and off-roading are close to capacity, and the spa day and shooting are full, Garrison said.
All activities are free. In addition, Calvary is offering free hotel stays for Wednesday night. For more information and to sign up for activities and a hotel, go to calvarylhc.com/event/azsbc. If you do not need a hotel but wish to participate in an activity, registration is still required. The registration deadline is Friday, October 29.
Registration for activities and hotel space is separate from registration for the annual meeting. Messengers and guests may register online for the annual meeting at azsbc.org/annual-meeting-messenger-registration/.
“We are grateful to Calvary for their hospitality and generosity in not only hosting the annual meeting but providing an opportunity for recreation and refreshment,” David Johnson, AZSBC executive director, said. “What a great way to celebrate God bringing us through the last few months and restore our souls in the process! I hope many in our AZSBC family will take advantage of this great opportunity.”
