What is this book about?
The Gift of Unity is a 40-day devotional specifically written to provide readers a biblical path toward the goal of achieving genuine biblical unity in their personal relationships, within their families, and in society generally. The book is written for those who want to know what the Bible says about seeking and achieving cooperation, even from the perspective of present or prior conflict.
What do you want your readers to gain by reading your book?
Each devotional is written to help remind us that we are more effective when we live in unity, even in the midst of our great diversity. Indeed, unity does not mean conformity or uniformity. Unity is harmony among even very different perspectives and experiences.
Why did you write this book?
There are so many challenges that affect both non-Christians and Christians alike in this increasingly conflictual world. While most devotionals are wonderful, they are typically general in nature. I wrote The Gift of Unity as a devotional that specifically offers a foundation for achieving biblical unity and that helps bring us to a place of cooperation rather than conflict in our families, our communities, and our nation.
Who do you hope will read this book?
It is written to be read individually, as a family, as a small group such as a Sunday School class or life group, or as a church. It is for people who are in the midst of conflict, have recently emerged from a difficult situation, or who are helping others who are going through a conflict in their life, church, organization, etc.
