Beth Moore sets return event in Chinle

Planning is underway for a return engagement by Living Proof Live with Beth Moore for Native American women. The event will be held Oct. 6 in Chinle.

In 2016, Native American women representing 20 tribes from 18 states converged on northeastern Arizona and the Navajo Nation for Living Proof Live in Chinle.

In January, around a crowded table at Memorial Baptist Church in Chinle, Paula Hoyt, women’s ministry coordinator for Fourcorners Association and Living Proof Live Chinle 2018 event facilitator, and 23 other women shared team reports from their different — and distant — areas. The women represented eight teams from the Navajo, Apache, Hopi and Tohono O’odham nations — as far south as Sells, as far west as Tuba City, and as far east as Gallup, N.M.

No one expected to be planning for a second visit from Beth Moore after the first event in 2016. So when Living Proof Ministries reached out to Hoyt and a date was set, she quickly went into action, knowing this time around she would need more than her original team of three women to organize it. And now, through many answered prayers, the planning committee is more than 50 strong.

Hoyt said she has seen more intentional Bible study and discipleship among women as a result of the upcoming Living Proof Live event.

“We’ve never had this kind of reaching out to other communities,” she said. “There is an amazing movement going on among Native American women. This Beth Moore event is the catalyst for our women to want to grow in their faith and relationship to Christ.”

Prayer is the foundation of the planning committee. Quoting Zechariah 4:6, “Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit says the Lord,” more than once during the meeting, Hoyt led the women to stop and pray for needs that specific teams were facing.

The first Living Proof Live event brought together 2,500 Native American women in the Wildcat Den in Chinle, which holds 7,000. This October is expected to bring many more.
