An Investment in Children

Mar 31, 2016

Abigail CPWhen Stacie Dudden arrived inside Willow Hills Baptist Church in Prescott for the second day of Vacation Bible School in 2014, Abigail ran down the aisle to share exciting news. She had asked Jesus into her heart the night before, she told the VBS director.

Stacie gets teary-eyed recalling the story. “I don’t know if there are any words …” she says. “I was so excited for her, knowing she had made that connection with Christ.”

When Abigail heard the lesson on “Is Jesus Really God’s Son?” she knew what she needed to do. “I asked Jesus to be my Savior,” she says. “It felt special. I felt happy. Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He rose again the third day.”

For Stacie, Abigail’s decision “made every second of VBS preparation worth it.”

As part of the Arizona Southern Baptist team that conducts VBS clinics, preparation begins early for Stacie, a self-described “VBS geek.” At national training in Texas, she gains the confidence and expertise to help people teach their VBS teams. At state clinics, she has passed on that confidence to new VBS directors.

Cooperative Program gifts from Arizona Southern Baptist churches help provide funding for the training of the state VBS team and the clinics where they teach. But the CP gifts are more than just an investment in teacher training. They are an investment in the lives of children.

“It’s always exciting when we can plant these (gospel) seeds and see them come to fruition,” Stacie says. “We don’t always get to see it, but it’s very exciting when it happens.”

Abigail is the CP.

Because you and your church give, You are the CP.
